Scott Cantrell began a four-decade career as a music journalist and critic by writing about the organ and its music, and he has reviewed several national AGO conventions for The American Organist. After staff critic positions with newspapers in Albany and Rochester, New York; Kansas City, Missouri; and Dallas, Texas, he continues covering classical music for The Dallas Morning News. He has also written for The New York Times, Encyclopaedia Britannica, The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and numerous music magazines. Also active as a church musician in earlier years, he holds degrees from Southern Methodist University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
