Step up to the AGO Certification Examinations

One of the AGO Certification Examinations is within reach for you! This workshop will convince you to step up to take one of the AGO Certification Examinations. There will be a brief discussion of why the AGO offers certification as well as some history. The details of each exam through the Associate level will be reviewed, and all of the repertoire for each level will be available for your review. You will leave knowing the value of the Certification Examinations, how to prepare for them, and a refreshed awareness that the Certification Examinations are accessible. In this workshop you will understand the requirements of the examinations, preparation, and how the examinations are scored. The presenter will give you the perspective both as a proctor and candidate for the examinations, revealing his strengths and weaknesses. The AGO Certification Examinations are a great way to refresh your skills and recharge your enthusiasm about playing. Jeffrey McIntyre, CAGO, is the Director of Music Ministries at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Peachtree Road in Atlanta. He studied music at the University of Georgia, and is the organist, director of the children’s choir, the handbell choir, and the sanctuary choir at Covenant. He was previously the Minister of Music at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in downtown Atlanta for twenty years, and is a published composer of choral music. He offers his perspective on the AGO Certification Examinations both as proctor and candidate. Jeffrey is also the Founding Artistic Director of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus.
